How to Experience Real Freedom

For many years I wouldn't have felt free enough to dance on the beach like the folks pictured above.

Oh no...

I felt too fat, too uncoordinated, too self-conscious, too everything!

Many self-help books, therapy sessions, mystic texts, and coaching masterminds later, I feel very different. Just last week, I danced on the beach at sunset. (Ok, technically, I might have moved swiftly while being chased by a crab as my grandson laughed BUT it was close to the photo above. Or as near as I've been since the 1970's.)

The point is that I felt free running on the beach. Happy. At peace.

I realized a while ago that the ways for me to feel real freedom include:

  • Releasing the need to constantly criticize myself
  • Forgiving myself for every stupid thing I've ever thought, said or done
  • Staying in the present moment as much as possible 

I know what you're thinking. "None of this is new." You are correct! So let me ask you a few questions:

  • Do you still hear that little voice in your head judge you?
  • Do you feel at peace with your past and fully love and embrace who you are now?
  • Do you find yourself haunted by past events or fearful of the future?

That's what I thought. And I'm right with you! While I was having a good day at the beach last week, I still have my moments of feeling constricted, small, and confined. That does not feel like freedom to me. 

Experiencing the intelligence of love flowing through me, expanding with creative energy...now that's real freedom!

That type of freedom doesn't come from a government, partner or boss. It comes from your own awareness of the truth within.

How can you feel real freedom?

  • Stop judging yourself 
  • Forgive yourself and everyone
  • Be present

I know this can seem like a tall order. But we're here to do important work. The more we love ourselves and each other, the more able we are to create the compassionate, respectful, collaborative world we all want to live in.

Time to experience real freedom...
